One Year in Australia.

It has almost been a year since deciding to go do the travel photographer thing in Australia. Celebrating this milestone, I have put together a few of my best and favourite images from the last 12 months down under, together with a few words on how it happened.

Monkey Mia Pelican.

It was the end destination on a fantastic ‘Christmas break’ road-trip, up the Western Australian coast to the Shark bay peninsular, and then the small resort of Monkey Mia. I had noticed the elegant birds frequent the beach from the very first moment I arrived, and had to get a shot. A few unsuccessful attempts had me splashing about in the sea scaring absolutely everything away. There were a couple of brave birds however that waited on the beach for any scraps the fishermen would throw them, this one was hovering in the hope that a father and young son, beach casting 100 yards away, would leave valuable food behind. Carefully edging my way closer, I clicked off the shots until the pelican eventually grew impatient. My girlfriend sneaked off the below shot, I think in the hope that it would bash me with its beak!
