Ninja picnic – Iga Ueno

I thought I would do another round up of images I shot over the past week. The weather still being totally unpredictable we headed off for Iga Ueno but made a stop at the Akame falls famous for its 48 waterfalls which was very beautiful and a lot easier going than some of the other treks I have been on while here. With Saturday drawing to a close we had the idea to find a campsite (tents already in the car) to stay in the area ready for Iga Ueno the next day. It quickly became apparent that  a campsite was unlikely so found the first secluded area of forest and set up base for the night, as glamourous as it sounds camping on a mountain side has its downsides including sleeping on a slope and a 3am wake up call by local monkeys, all good fun though.

Iga Ueno is famous for being the home of the Ninja and one of Japans most famous poets Basho Matsuo who was born here in the town. I shot quite a few images but  was mostly interested in all the people running around dressed as Ninjas which you can do as part of the Ninja museum.
